A Bit of Background
At USYG: Youth in Politics, our goal is to eliminate the barriers that prevent young people from being active in politics. Our organization focuses on education and advocacy. We educate and train young people about the political process and also advocate for issues they care about.

ADVOCACY TEAMS
Our Advocacy Teams conduct policy research on important topics as they prepare to lobby their lawmakers. Our Advocacy Teams are currently researching housing, immigration, the environment, racial injustice, disability rights, and education.
After they conduct policy research, they will study current and past legislation on the subject. Members even have an opportunity to write their own legislation to bring to lawmakers!
Next, they create a pitch to address lawmakers and lobby for change. We know not everyone knows how to conduct policy research, write legislation or lobby so we host workshops to teach our members how to.
